Scope

What this policy covers.

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of apps.upforgrowth.org and any internal application made available through it — including the Readouts app, the Members directory, and any future tools added to the portal. It is a companion to the Code of Conduct and applies to all members, staff, and authorized guests with a sign-in.

Where this AUP and the Code of Conduct overlap, both apply. Where they conflict, the stricter standard governs.

Account & access

Your sign-in is for you.

• One person, one account. Accounts are issued to a named individual. Do not share your password, magic link, or session with anyone — including colleagues at the same member organization.
• Use your work email. Your account is tied to the email address your organization uses to participate in the network. If your role or employer changes, tell us so we can update your access.
• Access is membership-scoped. You will see only the readouts and members associated with work groups you belong to. Up for Growth staff (admins) have broader access in order to maintain the platform; that access is logged.
• Access ends when membership does. When your relationship with Up for Growth ends, your sign-in is revoked. Internal materials you accessed remain confidential under the Code.

Permitted use

What the platform is for.

The Apps portal exists to support the work of the Up for Growth network. Permitted uses include:

• Reading and referencing work-group readouts you are a member of
• Looking up other members and reaching out for network-related collaboration
• Submitting research and policy topics for consideration by staff
• Participating in any future apps Up for Growth releases to the network

Prohibited use

What the platform is not for.

You may not use the Apps portal — or anything you obtain through it — to:

• Republish or leak readouts. Do not copy, screenshot, forward, or otherwise share readout content outside the network without explicit authorization.
• Mine the directory for outreach. The Members directory is not a marketing list. Do not export, scrape, or use member contact information for sales, fundraising solicitation, recruitment, or political campaigning.
• Conduct partisan campaign activity. The 501(c)(3) Apps portal must not be used to support or oppose candidates for public office, or to coordinate work that belongs to Up for Growth Action.
• Misrepresent the network. Do not portray any readout or member position as an official Up for Growth statement unless it has been published as one.
• Interfere with the platform. No probing, scanning, scraping, automated load, reverse engineering, or attempts to bypass access controls.
• Use AI assistants on confidential content. Do not paste readouts, member rosters, or other internal materials into third-party AI tools that retain or train on inputs.
• Upload unlawful material, malware, or content that violates the rights of others.

Data & confidentiality

What's stored, and how it's classified.

What we store about you

• Your name, work email, organization, and title
• Work-group memberships and role (member or staff/admin)
• Sign-in events and basic activity logs (timestamps and resource accessed)

How readouts are classified

• Internal — the default. Visible only to members of the relevant work group plus Up for Growth staff. Not to be shared outside.
• Network-wide — visible to all signed-in members regardless of work group. Still not for external distribution unless noted.
• Published — cleared for external use; will carry an explicit "published" label and a public URL when available.

Unless a readout is labeled published, treat it as internal.

Security expectations

The basics we ask of every member.

• Use a strong, unique password and store it in a password manager
• Enable multi-factor authentication once it is offered (rolling out 2026)
• Sign out on shared or public devices
• Lock your screen when you step away
• Report any suspected account compromise to [email protected] immediately

Monitoring & privacy

What we log, and why.

To keep the platform safe and to investigate incidents, Up for Growth keeps minimal access logs — who signed in, when, and which resources were opened. We do not sell, share, or commercially exploit member data, and we do not use these logs to evaluate members' professional performance.

Logs may be reviewed when:

• A security incident is suspected
• A confidentiality concern under the Code of Conduct is being investigated
• Required by law or by a lawful subpoena (you will be notified to the extent permitted)

Suspension & termination

What happens if this policy is broken.

Violations of this AUP follow the enforcement steps in the Code of Conduct. Up for Growth may, at its discretion and depending on severity:

• Issue a warning and request remediation
• Temporarily suspend your Apps access while a concern is reviewed
• Restrict your access to specific work groups or features
• Permanently terminate your account and recommend the network's membership committee end your membership

Serious or willful breaches — leaking readouts, unauthorized scraping, abuse of credentials — may result in immediate termination without prior warning.
